High School sophomore Pooja Sethi has qualified for the national Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition that will be held the end of June in Orlando, Florida.
Pooja qualified by taking first place at the state competition held April 6 in Spokane.
Freshman Aakash Sethi also qualified for the national competition by placing second in the Cyber Security category.
Pooja competed in the Accounting I category and placed first out of 45 students from across the state. Aakash also competed against 45 students.
Both competitions are a one-hour timed test and the top two scores move forward to the national competition.
Business education teacher and FBLA advisor Sherry Lund stated, “Pooja and Aakash are dedicated students that spent hours studying for these tests and deserved to win. They read at home, they read on the bus, they read every chance they had and all the hard work paid off.”
At the national event, Pooja and Aakash will attend competition events and leadership activities and learn new ideas about shaping career goals through workshops and exhibits.
Also representing Granite Falls High School at the State conference were Kyle Kamins, Erin Hurn, Aron Scalf, Luis Torres, and Ciera Scown.
