After over four years as a member of the Granite Falls City Council, councilmember Robyn Ross submitted her resignation to Mayor Haroon Saleem and the city council on August 17.
Ross listed changing obligations and time commitments as her reason for leaving the council.
“I have served the City of Granite Falls in this capacity since 2005, which has been a time of growth and change for the city,” Ross wrote in her resignation letter. “Although I am stepping away from this point of service to the city, I will continue to serve and work in the community as other opportunities present themselves.”
Mayor Haroon Saleem looks forward to finding a replacement for Ross in the upcoming weeks.
“I believe that it will effect the city in a positive way,” Saleem said regarding Ross’s departure from the council. “Robyn Ross has not been engaged in the public business for a couple of years. She has never attended any other meetings (other than weekly city council meetings) and is always looking at the clock and cutting people short. She has been the most unproductive member of the council.”
Ross was contacted by the Granite Falls Press, however, she had not responded by the time the Press went to print.
City Hall will be accepting applications to fill the empty city council seat for the remainder of Ross’s four year term which began in January 2010.
Anyone interested in applying can contact City Hall at 360-691-6441.
