American Legion Post 181 presenting the colors at a local high school football game.
American Legion Post 181 will be holding a special ceremony and display in Lake Stevens on Saturday, September 11 in remembrance of thousands of Americans who lost their lives on that tragic day and for the heroes who came to the rescue of a city in turmoil.
At 9:46 a.m. the Lake Stevens Fire Station downtown will blare its sirens while the Lake Stevens First Baptist Church will ring their bell.
At 10 a.m. there will be a Memorial Service including the presentation of colors and speakers including Post 181 President Tom Thorleifson, Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celori and Lake Stevens Fire District Chief Gary Faucett.
From 10:15 to dusk there will be a Remembrance Canopy which will include a short DVD and a Remembrance Book for all members of the community to sign.
The American Legion will then mail all of the books to New York City Firefighters to say thank you for all they did just nine years ago.
The Lake Stevens Kiwanis will also be providing donations and support on that day.
